Calling all WA public galleries

In late 2016, at a regional galleries summit held in Mandurah, it was unanimously resolved by the sector that an independent organisation representing public galleries in WA should be established.

A group of volunteers stepped up to make that happen and GalleriesWest was created. Even before we were incorporated or had an ABN, bank account or draft strategic plan we were busy advocating for the sector, meeting with relevant ministers and speaking at State and National conferences.

There is so much more work to do to ensure that public galleries and the people who work in them are supported and recognised for the important role that they play in the cultural life of our communities and the State.

Thank you to all the galleries and individuals who have become members but we need more of you on board ( a membership form is attached) and we would love to see you at the AGM or have you join us by phoning in, or you can appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf. Even if you can’t join at this time we welcome your participation as observers.

Our committee remains committed and enthusiastic but its time to hold our first Annual General Meeting at which all positions are up for re nomination and re election.
